Overview
"I want the anchor-out life of a 50-footer with the berth fees, the running costs and the docking manners of a 40."
Who this boat is for
Owners who want a 40-foot sport coupé that opens up completely at anchor — electric balconies both sides, sliding hardtop, two real cabins below — but still parks single-handed in a tight Mediterranean berth.
Hisham's take
The Gran Turismo 40 is the entry point into Beneteau's new Gran Turismo line, and the trick it plays is space: two electric side terraces fold out at anchor and turn a 12.5-metre cockpit into something closer to a 50-footer's beach club. Twin Yanmar 8LV370 ZD diesels (2 × 370 HP) with joystick docking come standard, the hardtop sunroof is electric, and two cabins with one head below make it a genuine weekender. CE category B8 offshore — 8 people offshore, 10 inshore.

Technology
Hull design — Beneteau Powerboats
The GT40 sits on Beneteau's Air Step® hull, tuned here for shaft-drive diesels. Four details to know:
- 01Air Step® hull — air injection cuts wetted surface and softens the ride
- 02Electric terraces are structural, not bolt-on — the cockpit is designed around them
- 03CE B8 offshore / C10 inshore / D10 sheltered
- 048,600 kg light displacement — trailerable weight class it is not, but berth-friendly at 12.53 m
