Egypt is where TheBoatfinder® is based. El Gouna and Hurghada are two of the easiest places in the world to own a boat — flat water most of the year, a real marina network, and a season that never truly closes.
It is also a market where getting the boat wrong is expensive. Import duty, spare-part lead times and after-sales support vary enormously between brands, and the brochure never mentions any of it. That is the part I handle before you sign anything.

Can foreigners buy and own a boat in Egypt?+
Yes. Foreign nationals and foreign-owned companies can own and register a pleasure boat in Egypt. The practical work is in the import and registration paperwork, which varies depending on whether the boat is delivered new from the factory or bought locally.
Is it cheaper to buy a boat in Europe and bring it to the Red Sea?+
Sometimes — but only once transport, duty and commissioning are in the same spreadsheet. For some brands the delivered price is close to a local purchase; for others the difference is significant. I run the numbers per boat rather than guessing.
What size boat makes sense in El Gouna?+
Most owners here are best served between 9 and 14 metres: big enough for a full day out with family and guests, small enough for straightforward berthing and running costs. Anything larger should be a deliberate decision, not a default.
